MATCH PLAY DEFAULTS

  1. A player must withdraw from the championships immediately following the qualifying rounds and before the match play draw is done if they know they are not able to play on one or more of the days matches are scheduled to be played in the grade they have entered.

  2. A player that has qualified and subsequently finds they are unable to play on one or more of the days matches are scheduled to be played in the grade they have entered must immediately advise the Club Captain (or Vice-Captain in their absence).  They must in turn advise their opponent unless the draw is to be redone under clause 3 below.

  3. If any player withdraws before any match has been played in a grade, the draw for that grade will be redone in fairness to all players that have entered that grade.

  4. A player whose opponent defaults to them prior to the match commencing should verify they have also advised the Club Captain or Vice-Captain of the default.

PLAYING QUALIFYING ROUNDS OR MATCHES ON AN ALTERNATIVE DAY

  1. A player who is chosen to represent their club or region in golf on a day when club championships are scheduled may apply for dispensation to play the impacted championship qualifying round(s) or match(es) on an alternative day.  To be granted dispensation they must apply in writing to the Captain (or Vice-Captain in their absence) as soon as they become aware of each championship day impacted. Dispensation will only be granted to enable the player to play the minimum 2 qualifying rounds and/or any match play round if alternative day(s) can be arranged without delaying the championship schedule and can be fairly accommodated by an opponent(s). The club and its members will make every endeavor to accommodate the representative player.  The player must also make every endeavor to accommodate other players in the arrangements and play any alternative qualifying round on a day as close as possible to the time/date it was scheduled.

  2. Players will not be granted dispensation to play a qualifying round on an alternative day for any reason other than the above.

  3. Opponents may agree to play their match on an alternative day provided that:
    - they both agree to play on the alternative day
    - the match is played on or before it is scheduled to be played – this may be extended to before the next match play round if approved by the Club Captain (or Vice-Captain in their absence)
    - the Club Captain (or Vice-Captain in their absence) is notified before the match is to be played and of the results when it is played

  4. Once an alternative day is agreed it becomes the scheduled day and any opponent unable to play on that day must default to the other unless another suitable day can be agreed.

  5. If both opponents are unable to play a match on the day it is scheduled or agree another day and neither can agree to default to the other then the default is awarded to the highest qualifying player.

  6. If a player is not able to play a match on the scheduled championship day due to extenuating circumstances and their opponent is unwilling to consider an alternative day, the player may ask the Captain or Vice-Captain to mediate.

Any disputes must be advised to the Match Committee within 30 minutes of the completion of the round.  The Match Committee can amend any of the above at their discretion.
