General

  • Entries must be declared to the starter (and shown on the scorecard under “event”) before the player’s first qualifying round. Handicaps are frozen as at 1st qualifying round. Best 2 out of 3 qualifying rounds as in programme, count for aggregate gross. Players may choose to play one or more of their qualifying rounds on the morning of a designated afternoon round. This may include playing 36 holes in one day. A temporary local rule will be in place for the three specified qualifying days, to allow players to play a second stroke round on the same day.

  • Thursday women players may play one or more of their qualifying rounds as part of the Thursday competition immediately following the first two programmed Saturday qualifying rounds.

  • Wednesday men players may play one or more of their qualifying rounds as part of the Wednesday competition immediately following the first two programmed Saturday qualifying rounds.

  • Notwithstanding any of the above, players must nominate before play if the round is to be a qualifying round and may nominate a maximum of 3 rounds.

  • 1st – 8th qualifiers go into Championship draw. 9th – 16th qualifiers go into Flights draw. If scores are tied, seedings are decided by countback on players’ last qualifying score.

  • Championships are match-play as per standard seedings draw.

  • Tied matches continue as “sudden death” using holes 1 then 18, and repeated until winner is found.

  • Senior and Intermediate finals (both Men and Women) are played over 36 holes. Golf carts may be used for these matches. All other matches are played over 18 holes.

  • Draw for Plate is to be made up from first Championship round losers.

  • Financial “Full Playing Members” only, may enter the Championship competition. Championship and Plate are regarded as one competition and default in the first round of Championships means the player is also out of the Plate draw.

  • The Flights draw is a separate competition.

  • There are trophies for all Championship Grade winners.

  • Men play for other trophies in conjunction with the Championships as follows:

  • Renown Cup - Top Senior Qualifier

  • Beach Cup - Top Intermediate Qualifier

Match Play Rounds

  • The draw for the match play rounds will be made as soon as possible after the last Saturday qualifying round.

  • All Finals must be played on the designated “Finals Day” unless exceptional circumstances prevent either or both players from playing on that day. “Exceptional circumstances” may include (but not be limited to) injury, illness, family bereavement, representative golf fixture, or course closure. Under such circumstances the match will be re-scheduled by the competitions committee, in consultation with the affected players.

  • Players with known commitments on the designated “Finals Day” may play in the qualifying rounds (and be eligible for the relevant trophies, played for over those rounds), but must advise the relevant club captain of their unavailability for the match-play rounds at the conclusion of the last qualifying round and before the match-play round is drawn up.

  • Opponents may agree to play their preliminary match (Quarter or semi-final) on an alternative day to that specified in the programme provided that:

    • they both agree to play on the alternative day

    • the match is played on or before it is scheduled to be played – this may be extended to before the next match play round if approved by a majority of the Competitions Committee. - the relevant Club Captain (or Vice-Captain in their absence) is notified before the match is to be played and of the results when it is played

  • Once an alternative day is agreed it becomes the scheduled day and any opponent unable to play on that day must default to the other unless another suitable day can be agreed.

  • If both opponents are unable to play a match on the day it is scheduled, or agree on another day but neither can agree to default to the other, then the match win is awarded to the highest seed from the qualifying rounds.

Any disputes must be advised to the Competitions Committee within 30 minutes of the completion of the round.  The Competitions Committee can amend any of the above at their discretion.
